Red worms in my carbon filter

They really do look like some kind of food worms, like blackworm/tubifex. Maybe something came in on your live plants? What fish are in there?

I've had colonies of blackworms do that in the bottom of an old 10-gallong tropical freswater I used to keep. I introduce some Kuhli Loaches ( http://www.loaches.com/species-index/pangio-kuhlii ) and the "problem" was solved.

Now, looking at this thread, I may have found an answer to my own worm ID thread... though I never fed my fish tubifex worms...

I had tubifex worms get established in my gravel once. The corys made quick work of them.
