I have reddish/brown algae showing up all over my sand, glass, and on some dead rock. Will this go away? What's happening? Anyone dealt with this before?

I have 5 bumblebee snails and 8 coneheads and one brittle star.

More brown than red? If so, it's probably diatoms. Hermit crabs will clean it up, as will some types of snails. Pretty normal--it usually just wears itself out without any intervention.

If it's more red than brown, and will come up in slightly slimy sheets and stinks--could be cyano. Check akalinity and increase circulation, and remove as much of it manually as you can. Very little eats it, and it can be a bear to get rid of completely.
