I bought myself two massive bits of redmoor root for my tank, one piece sank after a couple of days the other piece is still floating after 15..... What should I do to sink it? How long does it take to sink?

You can put bricks or large stones on it. You can time them on with cable ties or just place them on if there in a stable spot.

Eventually it will get waterlogged enough to sink.

Patience grasshopper

Rocks work for me, just make sure they are stable and cannot move. I tie the rocks to the underside to make sure they don't fall off and bash the side of the tank. Boiling wood helps sink them sometimes.

Thanks, I believe I will be putting rocks on it..... I can't boil it as I don't have anything near the size of it to fit it into. The wood looks incredible though!!!!

what the heck is a "redmoor root"? I mean, what plant does it come from?

I googled and turned up an astounding quantity of.....nothing. Many reference to the term at aquarium sites so it's evidently a well known descriptive there, but other than that? nada, zip, nit, nill, squat. Squat to the 17th power.

does it refer to the root of a particular plant or is it a descriptive term for a type of root-resembling object? I am now going to obsess on this subject without some clarification. Worst of all, the images that came up are all stunningly gorgeous. This can not be allowed to go undefined.
