My flow in tank is a tunze nanostream (modded so probably doing 5-6000 ltrs per hour) + my sump return which is 1200ltrs per hour. I have a 175ltr tank + sump/refugium. Do I need to do anything different at night with my flow or just leave it running? Also, what is the deal with these LED moonlight simulators? Gimmick, beneficial to reef only or beneficial to reef and fish?

Thanks!

The ocean's currents don't slow down at night, so neither does my flow.

Moonlights are mostly for your benefit. I have read that with proper setup they can promote coral spawning, but that's pretty rare and a really well devised schedule needs to be kept.

I don't alter the flow in our reef at night, either. Our fish find places to "sleep" for the night just fine with all the current. The other thing to keep in mind is that certain corals will feed via particle capture once the lights go out. A significant reduction in flow at night could effect the feeding habits of those corals.

My Maxi jet 1200 goes off at night with my light and When i went to that pet place last night the guy said my water perims were awesome

My flow is always the same. All my fish have little cubby holes in my rock which they sleep in.

Mandi can you put a Picture of a fish or somthing for your Avitar. I cant concentrate J/k.. hehe

I don't change my flow at night either. As others have said, fish find a place to shelter for the night (my clowns sleen up at the top behind the cord of a powerhead), and many of the corals open up to feed after lights out.
