Reducing Water Changes With Lucky Bamboo

Nice article! I've been wondering about the lucky bamboo for a while as I've seen it at my LFS but know it isn't fully aquatic. I have a big silver dollar tank which needs some nitrate reducing... I think I'll try some in the sump and in the tank itself. Don't think the silver dollars will be able to do much damage to it.

I'm in the same spot as you. My 300 gallon with 8 silver dollars and cichlids could use them. Even with my water changes it would be nice to have something that sucks down the nitrates a bit. I'm trying to think of how to grow them though. If you only put the roots in the water I have a problem because my tank is covered because of jumping bala shark. Plus the room is pretty much always totally dark as the tank is a in wall style.

If you have a sump or overflow boxes. I imagine that if you have a durso pipe setup, it would work really well.

You could rig up the overflow box somehow? I can't see it, so I'm not sure if it will even work, but its def. Worth a try :)
