My Set Up Is A Aqua Medic Percula 120 Been Runing For 6 Mths All Water Conditions Are Excellent And Plenty Of Coraline Algea

When I Set Up My System I Used A 3 Tier Reef Stage The Problem Im Getting Is.when I Purcheased Any Tangs They Swim Through The Rocks And Get Traped In The Reef Stage And Die,all Of The Small Fish Go In And Out With No Problem,im Thinking Of Removing The Reef Stage And Doing Rock On Rock With The First Layer Raised Of The Bed.
Has Any One Had This Problem With A Reef Stage

Thanks Tony

How big is your tank? Did you quarantine the tangs?

Also, it's quite common in my expierience for fish to die in or around the rocks, or be found dead in the rocks, regardless of the species. I find it very unlikely that rocks ae capable of killing your fish; I suspect that the tangs were diseased.

By the way, my LFS's main reef has a really tight rock structure inside of it, so tight that I've witnissed a yellow tang swim sideways through the rockwork, however, there tangs last a long time (usually longer than 2-3 months before they are sold) in that tank.

HI MY TANK IS 48 INCH X 26X24 THE TANGS WHERE ONLY FLOATED AND THEN PLACED IN THE TANK,THE FIRST TANK I PURCHASED WAS A POWDER BLUE TANK,I FOUND DEAD AFTER 10 DAYS ON ITS SIDE BETWEEN THE REEF STAGE AND A ROCK,NEXT I TRIED A ROCK ANGEL,LASTED 4 DAYS, NEXT A BLACK TANG LASTED 2 DAYS FOUND ON ITS SIDE STUCK BETWEEN REEF STAGE AND ROCK,NOT ALL 3 FISH WHERE IN TOGETHER

Simply floating the bag in the water is not enough of an acllimation. You need to acclimate your fish by slowly adding tank water to the water in the bag. Here's a link to an article wich goes more in depth on the acclimating subject: http://mandarinaquatics.com/resourses_acclimation.html THe lack of acclimation *could* have been the cuase of these fishes demise.

You could try the above mentioned methods of acclimation; but first i would definitely review your LFS history (ie; checking to see the death/life rate) of tangs in general by looking into their tanks and inquiring nonchalantly.

Good Luck
