Reefs and Terminex

You can buy Borox and spread it on your floors and furniture and wait a few hours and vacuum it up and it will kill fleas. Just do it every few days to make sure you get all of them. totally safe and works great!

Thank you all for the info.. I feel much better about our options now. Was worried that I'd gas everything I had just set up... that would be a very big bummer.

Borox is good for killing most insects... but it's gotten hard to find, at least around here... If you ever have an ant problem, try a 50/50 mix of borox and honey... they take it home, eat it, and die... Of course, my ants are super ants... they eat the stuff, and come back a few months later... they will form a line around bait traps... I've yet to find a way to kill them all, and I think there hill is under my house... Oh, also... I'm not sure if it would work for fleas, but I think so... it's just expensive and messy... But it kills ants, even super ants... There is this stuff that is made out of orange peels... I found it by googling pet safe ant killer. I can't remember the name... I can see if I can find a bottle of it when I get home if you want.

Cyanne (sp) works great to repel and kill super ants. Just find where they are coming in and sprinkle some paper in a line crossing their path...

That's part of the problem... first, we tried cinnamon. Then we tried Cyanne. We did a border all the way around the house. Then we realized that they were coming up from under molding where the walls meet the floor. They also come out of light fixtures... I'm afraid we are going to have to tent... I really think their nest is under the slab, or in the walls.

Baby powder works great to kill ants. when they track through it they inhale it and it suffocates them. You just have to put a small line around anywhere ants may be coming in from.

I'll have to try that... same thing the orange stuff does (kinda... it actually makes it so their respiratory system can't function, by destroying a wax membrane in it.) only the baby powder would be less mess and cheaper.

I would not use flea collars, they contain amitraz which is known to cause seizures, depression...all sorts of stuff. Its one of the most dangerous flea repellents. They don't work anyway, the fleas just move to the dog's head or legs or butt instead of their neck.

Stick it out with Advantage or another reputable topical treatment. Do not buy this stuff from eBay, counterfeits are rampant. Get it from your vet or a reputable site like Drsfostersmith. It can take a couple of days, the reason is because these kill hatched fleas that are on your dog. Most flea eggs are in your carpet and floors, and will still be hatching for three to four days. This is why you're still seeing them. The ones that hatch can't reproduce any more, but it will take a couple days for all the eggs to go away. You basically have to wait through a flea life cycle before you won't see them anymore.

Just thought Id throw my .02 in there...we had a major flea problem in my mothers house. We tried everything from bombs to sprays, and carpet sprinkles. You know what worked...SALT...yep plain old household you eat it at dinner salt.

We got a few of the big cans of it, and heavily sprinkled it all over. Waited 15 mins, and vacume really slowly. Then do it again tomorrow.

Theoretically a heavy blanket of salt will dry out the eggs, and they "let go" and can be vacumed up.

Worked for us, you could actually see the fleas go nuts, and had to rinse our feet off in the tub cause we were covered in them.
