I am in the process of changing out the 45 gallon for the new 70 and I was looking into the fuge and noticed that my Calupera is wonderfully green, but it has red clumps in it on the top. Looks like red cotton balls. I has seen this before in the LFS but is it good? a sign of bad things to come? or should I just clean it out and put the calp back in there?

Haven't gotten any pics yet but the description is accurate. Thanks all for your help!

Yes...it looks just like that. The weird thing is it is isolated to my fuge. I will try to post a pic.

Grins: thanks for the post with the link. I hand cleaned the majority of it out and then added a cowrey...already have a couple of snails, but must not be the right ones.

I really was excited becuase when I moved the calupera.....tons of pods took off to the LR on the bottom.

Looks like chaeto, not calupera.

And you could probably just rip out some of the chaeto ('prune') from the top that has that stuff in it.

Your right...chaeto. I will try to post a pic later becuase now it looks great, lots of trimming.
