Refugium Plants

What do you guys plant in your refugiums? I bought some greens from a place a couple of weeks ago but it wasn't plantable; just sat in there. Consequently most of it broke apart and wound up in the main tank. I guess I need something to plant until I can figure out how to lower the water flow through the refugium.
 
Chaetomorpha isn't usually plantable unless you tangle some of it in some rocks in the refugium. Other plants can go in the sand, be pressed between some rocks/rubble, or just placed there. Caulerpa doesn't need much help at all compared to others. I just use Chaetomorpha, but there's lots of others, including Gracilaria, Dictyota, Codium, Halymenia, Botryocladia, and many more.
 
That's what I was using. The Chaetomorpha. that's a good idea about the rocks. the LFS charges about $10 for what amounts to a handful of it. I kind of like the Botryocladia for the color. Will the color of the plant algae spread through the tank?

Meanwhile I think I'll drill a couple of holes through the line running into the refugium. Right now it's getting the feed from the skimmer but it's too much. If I drill some holes through the line before it reaches the refugium I think that will give me my 2X per hour that I'm looking for.

Thanks for giving me the names of these; now I know what to look for instead of "green stringy stuff".

One thing I should add is that most of the others I mentioned prefer more light than Chaetomorpha.

What do you mean the color spreading through the tank? If you mean the algae, it can spread if you give it a chance.
 
What I mean is that I want to build up the choraline algae on my rocks. Where will that algae come from? The refugium or just spreading from rocks that already have that algae on them?
 
Coraline Algae takes some time to grow and cover up the rock. Good lighting in the tank help it grow fast.
