I just bought a new HOB Refugium and I am wondering what do most people use in theirs? Yes, I know sand, rubble rock. Does anyone have anything that they recommend or to stay away from? I have heard not to buy refug mud...

24" long. Just a HOB one.

well i would recommend some live sand two or three inches some rubble rock 4-5 lbs and some cheato. JMO

Since it's a hang on fuge, just take a few cups of your sand from your display and put in there. If you have some small pieces of rock you can spare, throw those in, too. If you don't have small pieces, see if you can find one medium or large one, take it out of the tank and break it with a hammer, and stick those pieces in the fuge.

Then, all you need is chaeto and your set.

I also have my heater in my HOB fuge...just to tidy up the display a bit.

Thanks, I didn't think to put my heater in there. I will probably move my rubble rock from my pod pile in there. Hopefully then the pods will multiply more. I really want to get my tank ready for a mandarin.
