Regarding Vals

Hi Friends !

Just wanted to know if Vals can grow in low lighting ? Actually I just realized that I have a very low light and all my hopes are shattered... I thought I'll plant Vals if I can grow them...

p.s also how can I find what type of vals I have, I'm not sure if they're jungle vals or giant vals... please guide me...

My vals grow healthy, but slow in my 55g under 112 watts...I wouldn't suggest anything lower than 2 WPG.

1) How much light are we talking about??
2) Vals do like light, but will handle low light (about 2watts/gal).

Friends, I have a 3 - 4" Gravel layer. That reduces the water volume... Still I'm very low ? Can I take it this way ?

i would get another light fixture so you wont be limited to extremely low light plants. as of now, i would stick to java moss and ferns until you increase your wattage.

well val can grow in the light as low as .9 watt, but in lower ligthing their leaves will spread out and grow very poorly
