This may be a strange request, just wondering if anyone knows of a method of treating bruises to make them less painful and / or visible.
Last night, I slipped on some water on our hardwood floor (our dog tends to leave a lot of water on the floor after he has a drink) and got some pretty bad bruises. One is on my chin and hurts quite a bit, if there are any ways to make it feel better I'd love to know. Thanks :)

Sublime has put it fairly well.
Use cold initially to constrict the injured area to lessen more blood into the subcutaneous tissue. Aspirin has anticoagulant properties...use Tylenol.
After the first 24-48 hrs use warm moist heat to area to help increase circulation to resolve the bruising.

The make-up thing is the quick fix for sure. They usually get more colorful before they go away.

Thanks for your help guys :)
I had ice on my chin right away, so it's not too swollen, but it's starting to colour up. I took some Tylenol this evening, it's surprising how much it still hurts after 24h. Thanks for the tip about heat, I hadn't thought of that - I bet in addition to helping get rid of the bruise it'll feel good too :)
