*GASP* Oh Leo, I am sooo sorry! For you, Salem and Chris' parents! Did thedy ever find the reason for his decline?
Not that I know of.
I loved that little guy so much and I can't even stop crying....and he wasn't even technically my cat.
I'm so sorry, thats awful. Please let us know if they find out the cause. By the way, do you know any of his history before you found him? Could this have been a problem that no one was aware of that decided to rear its ugly head? Hang in there
Oh, Leo-man, that's tough.
Its amazing how such independent, aloof creatures can worm their way into our hearts, isn't it? Although from that pic, I'd say he wasnt' aloof at all-guess I'm thinking more of my various cats through the years.

No, he wasn't aloof at all. He was the most cuddly dependant cat ever. He would just want to be with you where ever you were.
They don't know his prior history. But last year when they got him, they ran a myriad of tests and everything was negative.
They still do not know the cause. Every vet there is baffled. They've consulted many other vets throughout the region and no one has a clue. His red blood cell count was low this morning, he had horrible difficulty breathing suddenly (chest xrays revealed this was due to fluid around the heart and lungs). He had pretty much every single test for every single thing you could think of.
I am drained right now, though. I just went with his "mom" and sister to pick him up from the vet - they were both sobbing the whole time
I tried to distract them from thinking about it, but it just didn't work.
Chris is going to be really sad when he gets home. He got so attached to Salem...as you can see from the picture I posted last. That was only a few days after taking the cat in,before giving him to chris' parents.

oh leo! i am so sorry for your loss as well as chris's family ...it's so hard to lose a pet ..no matter how long you have had them! I hope his family can find some solace and i will say a prayer for you and them!
