Remora as freshwater filter?

Not sure if anyone has ever done this, or which DIY forum it belongs in. Had a 75G marine system with a Remora Pro. Had to take it down when I relocated, and just started a freshwater system. (Goldfish)

Have a couple of HOB filters that put out 400 gph together, but I want to double the filtration. I was thinking about buying a canister or a larger HOB, then I remembered the remora and mag 3 sitting in my closet. Stuffed one of the remora chambers full of floss, hooked it up and it appears to be doing great, the floss blocks the flow just enough to submerge the spray head so it's whisper quiet, and I added another 350g of filtration without spending a dime.

Seems odd to have a $250 HOB filter, but I suppose it's better than a $250 skimmer taking up space in the closet. Has anyone ever done this, or can anyone think of a reason why it wouldn't work?

i say use what you have if you can! sounds like a great set up i would use it just as you did.
