I have had my Remora Pro on my 75 gallon reef for about 6 months now and up until a few days ago it was working beautifully. I decided it was time to give the skimmer a little cleaning so I took out the nylon spray bar screw and scubbed it with that wire bottle brush thing they give you. Now it seems like its producing way too many bubbles and the only skim I'm getting is a light tea colored skim and it fills up the cup in less than 2 days. I used to get some dark nasty lookin stuff and after 2 days i would barely have an inch of it in the cup. Any ideas what went wrong here? The collection cup is set all the way as high as it can go.

Remoras are extremely touchy when it comes to oils and cleaning. They require a slight film of slimy organic matter to work properly. Often after cleaning, that film is gone and the you have to break-in the skimmer again as the film redevelops inside.

Give the filter a week or two to work itself out again.

ok thanks, i noticed after a few days it started to work a little better but still isnt where it was before i cleaned it. thanks again.
