There is a crack in it so the added glass makes me feel right. Thanks.

I would have to second the motion to replace the entire wall of the tank if the hole has cracks. Glass cracks like to creep. what is a ding today might be a ruptured wall a year from now. I hate glass. It's so tempermental that it stresses me out every time i touch it. I have had large plate glass just spontainously explode 15 min after cutting. Can't wait till they make that transparent aluminum stuff ive been hearing about :)

What do the cracks look like .. superficial chips or cracks that run radially from surface to surface. If the former you should be ok. the later. you might need that new side.

Start a new thread in the general fresh water, this thread is not the place to get the answers you want. :)

the crack goes to the edge of the glass so it has nowhere else to go, it's on the corner but is now covered on both side & then much more. There's two pieces siliconed to both sides now. I feel confident it's ok, it won't have too much pressure on it. If not, it's the sump so I can replace it easily.

"Transparent aluminum is a fictional material in the Star Trek universe which was introduced in the movie Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986).
Transparent aluminum is sometimes confused with transparent alumina, a transparent ceramic composed of alumina (aluminum oxide). Transparent aluminum is theoretically possible, at least at certain wavelengths, provided that photonic bandgaps that are transparent over narrow ranges of wavelengths can be introduced into the aluminum."

use a squeegee to butter a clean sheet of glass a bit smaller than the 1 you are repairing so it will stick to the broken wall of the aquarium snugly to the bottom & edge with hole & crack.Any miss measurment will be on the good side so youle be cool. Fill hole with some silicone to tidy it up a bit .you need aquarium silicone & excelent ventilation!
