I'm using the spray bar too, anyone have any input on what's best to use, the spray bar or the jet spray thing?

I think most people use the spray bar.

I always turn everything off except for one of the lights, found out the hard way to make sure my heaters are off if they aren't covered in water lol

It really depends on the fish you keep and the flow they like. I use the spray bar on 2 tanks and the jet on two.

depending on how low you drain it, it could lose prime.

I lift the tab/unplug it before doing water changes to make 100% sure they don't lose prime.

I just leave mine running. The spray bar is located so that it doesn't make a mess when the water level is down...and like said above, I just make sure I don't lower the water below the intake. And I've never lost prime.
