So i have an established lightly planted tank with Fluorite at the bottom and white gravel on top of that. I was wondering if i can replace the white gravel with sand, 3M Black Color quartz sand. The risk would be taking the fish out, messing with the cycle, and killing the plants. Is it worthwhile to do this?

In short, no. I depends on the reason why you want to do it.. After all, if its for looks, youre the one that has to look at it daily..not me.. ;) Second, the sand will eventually settle toward the bottom because it is so light, so you wouldnt really be able to see it anyways..

You can change it without taking out the fish. It's a bit time consuming, but the fish don't have to go into a new environment with different water.
