Thanks guys for the advice. I threw the rocks back together, as I had them stacked a littler higher on the left before, I do like that look better. When I get a chance, I will change up the formation some so it is higher on the left side. I needed the corner somewhat free so I can get to algae buildup. I have a chase lounge setup next to the tank and I see it from the side a lot. So, I needed that side open for me to run my mag float through there.
I have thought about moving the rocks to break it up, but I cannot bring myself to do it. My 40g is setup that way with holey rock. I have a rock pile left, space, center, space, and right.... I have a male chewere that claims the left, mbamba that claims the middle, and a albino socolofi that claims the right. The chewere is ok about fish in his area, the mbamba is a little less tolerant, and the albino does not let ANY fish near his area. Keeping the tank setup in this way stakes out specific territory. It allows me to have 3 males for right now in that tank. But, my 55g is an exception. the way it is setup, they have places they can hide(crevices) but they are open-ended. Not one fish in my 55g claims ANY territory permanently. They all swim like a community tank for the most part. There is minimal chasing and rarely any fights. I don't want to change it to 3 seperate rock piles and end up with 3 males claiming areas and causing stress....maybe if there is an aggression outbreak I will change it....
Efors, I have stumbled onto the holy grail of lighting. I had xmas cash and bought a few lights to test them out. acitinic, 10k, etc. The best light is the cheapest light! I got a GE Aqua Rays Fresh/Salt 24'' bulb from lowes for $6.47. It is bright, but not obnoxious. Best of all, all of my fish glow! It really brings out their colors. They look awesome with this light.. I went to lowes and I now have 2 dual 24'' lights on my tank.... I am gonna build a canopy soon to complete the look... I suggest to anyone, just try this bulb and u will not be disappointed... I did some research and the light is 9325k...perfect
