Rescued betta has stringy poop

Last night my landlord brought me another betta to rescue. He looks outwardly normal (though smaller than my other betta), but today he has stringy light yellow poop hanging off him.

I haven't got him to eat yet. He's spending most of his time hiding.

What kind of treatment should I be giving for the stringy poop?

He's in a filtered, heated, cycled 10 gal (I've had it set up for months in the hopes of rescuing another couple of bettas--it's divided, but there's only the one betta in it right now).

Might want to try a medicated food for internal parasites. Jungle has a food for such that I have been using to get rid of callmalanus nematodes, which are an intestinal parasite. The only way to get rid of internal parasites is with medicine introduced into thier food one way or another.

There are meds that you can purchase which you soak thier regular food in before feeding. Maybe someone else will have some more info on this.

I wouldn't add anymore fish in the tank with him yet, until you find out what it is and if it will be passed to any other fish you might put in there.

I have also used the Jungle medicated food and it works.
 
I'm having trouble getting him to eat anything.

He even ignored bloodworms. :(

This morning he kept taking in a pellet and then spitting it out. He went behind a plant and I couldn't tell if he ended up eating it or not.

I'll try the medicated food. Actually I am going to get a few different kinds of food in the hopes of finding something he likes.
 
Bettas are pretty picky . Try to find out what he was fed before. Once they get used to a kind of food,it's hard to get them to change. You don't teach an old dog new tricks...
 
Co workers betta

has had stringy whitish poop be fore.
he is alo prone to Bloat I guess and when he gets that he gets the long stringy poops.

Should we try the medicated food too.
