Don't forget Murphy's Law, especially when dealing with livestock. My best advice is to start with a small group of some shrimp you like. When they reproduce to the point that half the bottom of the tank is covered with them, buy another tank. Rinse, repeat. In 35 years I've bred many types of fish and attempted to breed at least that many more. The thing that I've found true is that when you go all out and want something to happen it most likely isn't going to. When you keep it simple, it will never cease to amaze you how brilliant nature is.
