Reverse flow pwrhd effects

HOB's Ford-vs-Chevy

:grinno: Great help in my indecisions surrounding the remodel of my 60. I believe that I will convert to RUGF using 2x Penguin 660R's at opposite ends of the tank. By the way...I was asked about the "footprint" of my tank. It's 23"Hx13Dx48"L. Once there was a malfunction with a cannister and the result was that I had to move the tank to dry the hard wood floor. So I am reluctant to hang a box of water off the back of my tank. I am having trouble making a decision about an HOB. I had no idea it would release such a flurry of Ford-vs-Chevy debates. I am sorry to open old wounds, but... I like the Penguin 350 or the Emperor 400, just not sure about some things I have heard concerning primming, noise, convenience, and filter cost . It seems that I hear more good about the 350. Should I just add the 2x 660R's and continue to use the magn 360 and basket (ammonacarb&media) with the occasional diatom/micron cart? Would I get similar effects? I'm trying to reduce the noise, ie motor, in the room as well as cut down tank maint. Thanks.

The RUGF will reduce your need to gravel vac, and I also still run carbon in most all of my Mags. The new "C" 360 is marginally quieter than a 350. I haven't actually tested the flow rate on them, but they feel like they have less discharge pressure than the 350s. However, the impellers are all but identical.
