Hi,
I'm looking for a reverse osmosis for my tanks as well as for drinking water, I will be filling 5 gallons jugs,I found one at home depot.
It looks okay except it needs to be mounted to a sink and it has a large storage tank, I just want something that I can plug into the sink and fill up the jugs

Can anyone suggest a good model that would be good for a fish tank as well as for drinking?
I'm looking in the 100-180 range
Thanks
Wayne

it's best not to. DI water is like distilled where it will actually act as a solvent and rob your body of necessary compounds.

But this is ok for fish?
that's strange.

I'd hope that you use some sort of buffer with RO/DI water.

Many aquariums have a naturally-occuring buffering enviroment from compounds that are constantly being dissolved in the water. These come from filter media, substrate, plants, decorations, wood, peat, fish/plant waste, etc. etc.

I found this article that might help you and/or others.

Additional buffering salts aren't necessary for the safety of the fish because they, too, are present in salt mixes. Now, when it comes to corals, however, some salts are slightly lacking--but that is certainly not enough to harm anything (usually--I can think of one glaring exception with salt brands, at least in the past).

@tecman
Why not buy a good 4 stage RO/DI that simply has an RO-only valve and line. Then you can route that line to your drinking water reservoir when you need to. It is better than skimping on water purity for your tank.

yeah, I didn't realize this was the marine section, I was just looking through new posts, so, that makes it even more self-explanitory.
