Review wanted: Eheim Pre-Filter Module

I'm trying RCS again, so I'm looking to cover/replace the intake strainer on my Eheim 2128 Pro II.

Anybody used the Eheim Pre-Filter Module. Does it take up a ton of room? How well does it work? Do you think RCS babies would still be at risk?

I'm also considering just a sponge, but I want something that looks decent. I tried women's stockings before, but they are very fine pored, and clog very quickly.

I'm definitely leaning away from the Eheim pre-filter module. Since my main concern is keeping shrimp out of the filter, it's apparently not the best option.

The Lustar Filter-max seems to be fairly popular and so does the lustar hydro-sponge. I'm probably going to go with the Lustar Hydro-Sponge II as a pre-filter. It's a bit bigger than I wanted, but I'll make it work.

lol i dont think my answer was that fast though.. Let me know how the sponge goes, curious if it will decrease suction over time

I'm actually going to use the Lustar Hydro-Sponge II instead of the Filtermax III.

In that thread they talk about plugging of the sponge.

What kinda tank are you running the 2128PII on for shrimps? They sound lucky.

I agree that the Eheim prefilter is, although temptingly unique in design, a pretty wonky getup.

It's my 45g----heavily filtered.
