If you have a plant that you killed off but still have the rhizome and roots, can this plant grow back?
I tried washing my plants to get the algae off and I used too hot of water.
After 2 days back in the tank, they all died. Anyways, I obviously wasn't thinking and unfortunately blanched my plants!:wall:
The root system and rhizome on them look good.......can I shove the roots back into the sustrate with the rhizome sticking out and see some new growth or did I completely kill them?
watta dummy, watta dummy, watta dummy.:wall::wall::wall:
thx.

I didn't have to prune, the leaves all turned brownish grey and fell off. They were all different kinds of swords.
The only one that survived was a java fern that started to grow again...thankfully!

I will let you know if they come back!
thx.

The sword is a strong plant and the roots should survive, just check it weekly to see if its still healthy, if its mushy then just chuck it.. The java fern is great, lives through heat/cold.

thx. It's been about a week now and the roots still seem ok, I don't see any new growth though. I will keep them in there and be patient. :irked:

I'd keep waiting, some people actually remove emersed grown sword leaves since eventually they die underwater. I don't know how long it might take, nothing to lose, good luck.

I have similar problem as Kooter. One of my Amazon swords has only the rhizome, no leaves and no root. It has been in the substrate for about 2 months now but nothing happen. The other one got baby plants on its flowering stem - I cut the baby plant and planted in the substrate while the mother plant old leaves die off - no new leaves there after (this one a lot of roots). Is it also seasonal related or root nutrient deficiency or something else?
