Hi,

I have a question about rhaphodon compatability. There are some rhaphiodons at my lfs that are 4-9 inches, and i want one. I have 2 possible tanks to choose from though. A 120g with a 8 inch oscar, 18 inch silver arowana, and a 16 inch redtailed gourami, i think the aro will eat them though. The other tank is a 60 g with a 5" kissing gourami, 3" blue gourami, 4" flowerhorn, 5" ompok, 3" jack dempsey and some raphael cats. Could one get along with those fish? Thanks for the help

Well, this is maybe a little drastic, but I have an idea.

Personally, I wouldn't add any fish to the tanks you already have. IMO they are maxed out in terms of stocking.
 
I have 32 tanks, lol. Most are pretty understcked. I tried monsterfishkeepers.com, no help at all there. No offense to any members there, but i dont beleive they even know what it is.... They only know how to breed convicts, which is easy. Sorry, its just my opinion. Anywhere else? And im aware of the top of the food chain thing, ww, mfk, and many other websites have an article in there.
 
You pretty much mentioned the most popular online resources for this, if you need some extra info try using the search feature on AP or MFK and looking up old posts that might have some info you can find useful. I mean, I'm not going to bash websites, but here on Ac it's hard to get answer to a post that's not "How many corys can I put with a betta in a 20 gallon".
 
You need to try the Other Monster Fish section. R. vulpinus aren't too rare...I'm sure quite a few people have some experience keeping them. Even if you picked up the 9" one the aro might still have a go at it, but that would be a better route to go than getting a smaller one and putting it in the 60...I'm just going off the experience I've had with scombs so it might not apply to the rhaps. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
 
Once i get my 600g up and running the aro will be in that and the fish in the 60 will go in the 120g. Fishbase only meantions Rhaphiodon vulpinus, these are the extremely rare, new species, rhaphiodon sp. Gold stripe.
