After closer examination of the video in HD, and fullscreen, I noticed that they were still in their shells. One egg has hatched out as of this morning. The lil guy still has a pretty serious yolk sac, but is definitely mobile, and has decided to hang out under the rock where his siblings are still attached. We'll see how long it takes for the rest of them to hatch as well.
Thanks, Mel! As of tonight, another fry has escaped its egg. They seemed to be getting batted around by the flow a lot, so I turned the bubbles down a bit. Don't want to get too low though, because I've heard that the oxygen needs of the fry are very high. Should really set up a BBS culture, but I don't have any eggs on hand. Might have to get some tomorrow, but it seems like it'll be a few days before they will need feeding yet. I'll definitely be posting updates in this thread.
Sigh... As of today, we have 2 definitely still alive, 1 definitely dead, and 1 mia, but no body apparent, so hopefully it's just holed up in the sponge filter or something. Yolk sac is still pretty prominent, but definitely getting smaller. In the mean time, I switched the male in the breeding setup with the big male that's been living in the 90. I'm scared of burning him out, as he rarely gets a week of good eating before the female is ready to breed again. Hopefully by rotating the two males, I can keep them both well rested, and increase genetic variation at the same time. Wish I had more than one female, though...
