I am in the middle of fighting my first bout of Ich and I am using the above product and wondered what anyone's opinion was. Maybe someone has a better med recommendation??

I agree with Beer,

Go with that method... i just finished off a fight with Ich. Salt and heat do WONDERS!!!

I used Rid-Ich before. Works just fine. I would recommend finishing treating your tank with it. Do not switch in the middle.

i agree with himik. But for future ick infections (hopefully not) I would definately use daveedkas article, it does work wonders, and is basically free. You have all the materials you need right around the house most of the time. But I would definately not stop in the middle of the treatment you are using right now, go ahead with it.

To the best of my knowledge, Rid-ich is Malechite green, and is as effective as any number of other meds available. Most ich meds are melechite or formalin or a combination thereof. My Brother swears by Rid-ich, I have used it as well but that was many years ago, and the fish I had did not seem to be capable of surviving meds.
Make sure you reduce organics in the tank as much as possible, organics are the variable that have the greatest side effect on ich meds.

Thanks for the advice, I wanted to try the salt method but went into a panic and bought the rid-ich. This will be day 6 of using the rid-ich and it seems I saw the white spots (on my clown loaches) on mon and then last night I saw them again. Water is at 84 degrees and fish seem to be doing fine in lieu of the ichy situation...

Thanks for the input...

Oh yeah not to sound ignorant but what do you mean by organics??

Be sure to be testing your ammonia and nitrite levels now and for a little while after the treatment. Some of the meds. (not sure about rid-ich) can kill off your good bacteria and cause a cycle in the tank.
