So my main 55g tank with my EBJD has ich, and I have been using Rid-Ich on it for about a week now, and there has been no change. It's actually gotten worse since I started using Rid-Ich.

Water temp is 82*, I have added a bit of salt to the tank 1 tblspn per 10 gallons of water.

My EBJD seems to be more infected than any of the other fish in the tank.

Any suggestions of what I should do to cure this issue, since Rid-Ich sux and isn't helping.

I didn't have any noticable ich problems until I got some feeders for my Jaguar Cichlid, than BAM ich everywhere.

And the Rid-Ich is not helping with it at all. I have been doing the water changes it recommends on the directions. Also the carbon filters have been removed since treatment was started.

Think I may do an entire tank drain, scrub down, and use a better med, I know it's not right to switch meds during the treating process but what am I supposed to do when this med isnt working.

I've never actually tried Rid Ich, the salt method is the best IMO.

I'd also raise the temp to 85 or so.

The Rid Ich could be working though. When you raise the temp it speeds up the Ich lifecycle, even with salt it gets worse before it gets better. The meds need to attack the Ich in the stage where they are free floating. The salt treatment usually takes about 2 weeks. I believe Rid Ich probably says the same.

There is a great sticky on the salt/heat method so you could just do a couple of 50% water changes back to back to lessen the meds and start the salt/heat method.

I've never used Rid-Ich except at the store i used to work at, but why not forget it and use salt and heat instead? It's more reliable and safe.

I've seen comments by other people that Rid Ich didn't work for them.
After a week of ich, I believe it is pretty imperative to get some meds that work in with those fish. Ich will kill them if it gets bad enough. I have also seen posts where people talked about a new strain of ick that seemed to be heat resistant. If they were my fish, and I know salt is safer than meds, I just wouldn't put their lives at risk for the salt treatment. I know I need meds sometomes when I get sick and I put it off as long as possible cause meds and me don't get along too well. But by waiting I'm usually a lot sicker. Quick Cure by Aquarium Products is an excellent product to be used for a full 14 days, although I think you should see some results within a couple of days of use. And Copper Safe, by Mardel I believe, is another good treatment. I'd still bump the tank temp up just a bit too, And again, this is just how I would proceed.

Yeah I just did a 50% waterchange to the tank, pushed my heat up to around 86* and added more salt to the tank. Then next week I'm going to do another 50% water change and add more salt again. Hopefully this will speed it up and get rid of it.

And I've been thinking of a full tank drain, scrub, and switch over to Quick Cure, because Quick Cure is what we use at Petsmart. Yes I admit it folks, I work Part Time for Petsmart for extra money.

Rid ich is the same as Quick Cure, except it's forumlated a bit different to e gentler on fish (i.e. not kill them like quickcure can). Here's how I treat aggressive ich on my plecos and cichlids:

Temperature to 85
1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons every 12 hours for three doses total. (and then 2 more in a few days if the ich is lingering)
Ridich at the recommended dose every day
50% water change every three days with gravel vaccuuming.

That'll do it, no matter how tough the ich is. IF your water parameters are OK. big IF there. EBJD's are sensitive, so good luck.

why bother add salt if you're also adding the meds?

why not? salt can't hurt. if anything, the meds are unnecessary. I just add the meds to get instant treatment while the salt concentration build up. Then I keep going to prevent creating med-resistant parasites.
