I am really confused on the whole RO unit setup. I am going to start a 55gal sw tank in about 6 months(after I move). I will be in an apartment and I will not have much room for a huge setup. The tank will be in the living room while the sink is in the kitchen. What is an ideal way to setup a three stage unit? I am aslo not a plumber, so I am worried about under the sink connections and the like. Thanks.

There are many ways to connect a RO unit. Some of the more common are faucet adapters that screw on, saddle valves for piercing into a supply pipe (my least favorite way to connect), or hose end adapters (my preferred way to connect). I hooked ours up to the supply line for our washing machine. I bought a Y-adapter to convert the single hose connection into 2 connections, then used a hose end adapter to connect our RO unit. The waste line from the RO unit just goes down the drain intended for the washing machine.
In all reality, connecting a RO unit really doesn't require messing around with under the sink connections unless you need to go that route. Some of the other options, if convenient based upon the set-up of the apartment, require no tampering with the existing plumbing (which is a good way to make sure you get your security deposit back).

So hooking it up to the faucet and letting it run overnight would be the ideal? And just have the outlet running to a bucket or trash can? How do you all go about getting the water out of the buckets into the tank? Powerheads? How would I set that up. I hate any type of plumbing lol. Thanks again!
yes, thats the right idea...i use a big salt tub and, a pump and pipe...fill the bucket with the water, and pump it into the tank..All you need is a good pump and just fit a length of flexi hose onto it...nice and simple, cheap and effective..
