i like both.. there are some really good rap artists out there, you just have to look a lil bit beyond the mainstream for the most part. lupe fiasco has a lot of good songs(that are better than his song that's all over the place right now)
but i guess id have to say rock overall. there are rap songs/artists that i like more than a lot of rock though

I have to say Rock all the way!! Especially Classic Rock....I can't stand Rap, it makes me want to stab my ear drums repeatedly with a pencil..........I feel pretty much the same way about Country as well.....guess I'm not very open minded, LOL!
Sadly, the radio stations around me haven't played any good new music since about 1996. There's nothing wrong with rap as a form, though most of the popular stuff is terrible. Same for rock right now, unfortunately. But there's plenty of great stuff in both genres- you just have to dig a little.
Don't get me started on corporate country. I'm almost willing to bet that you've never heard real honest-to-goodness country music, Bitsy; the twang-pop garbage that Nashville's been pushing just isn't the same thing at all.
Heh, I guess I'm coming off as music snob, but I'm really not. I just like things such as sincerity, fun, and willingness to experiment, which all seem to be lacking in current popular music. Corporatism has risen to new heights.

I have to agree that if you do some digging you can find some good rap. But, for me, rock.
