Sadly, the radio stations around me haven't played any good new music since about 1996. There's nothing wrong with rap as a form, though most of the popular stuff is terrible. Same for rock right now, unfortunately. But there's plenty of great stuff in both genres- you just have to dig a little.
Don't get me started on corporate country. I'm almost willing to bet that you've never heard real honest-to-goodness country music, Bitsy; the twang-pop garbage that Nashville's been pushing just isn't the same thing at all.
Heh, I guess I'm coming off as music snob, but I'm really not. I just like things such as sincerity, fun, and willingness to experiment, which all seem to be lacking in current popular music. Corporatism has risen to new heights.
Oh, back to the original question- gotta go with rock. I just love me some power chords.
