i want to build some caves for my fish what kind of rock should i use i already have about 50 lbs of slate but i dont see to many building posablitys with it any suggestions.cant =i use aquriam seleant for the glue?
I used slate (red) and broke it into thinner pieces and glued them together with aquarium sealant. The only thing is that if you use to much sealant it really shows up under the water. Also remember to measure the width so that it will fit in. I made mine to fit into a corner, barely squeaked it in there.
Acualy you can make stuff with slate, make like an upside down U shape with it. You can also get a Tera Cotta Pot and get Aquarium Safe silicone and put it all over it, and roll it around in gravel, makes a nice natrual cave.
There must be some mountain streams around there. If not , there are definately some in Tennessee. Just do a little bit of looking on the side and you should find some awesome rounded rocks. I find these great for building and they also don't scratch the fish on the sharp edges.
