My 29 gallon tank just finished cycling and I've started to add more fish. So far I have:

3 rosy barbs
1 opaline gourami
1 dwarf gourami
1 upside down catfish (he's soo little and cute!!!! eeee!!!)

Would I have room to get something else? I'd like to get maybe 3 albino corydoras or a smaller pleco(if so, what types don't get huge?) to fill out the bottom layer. thoughts?

I think a group of 5 cory would give you some activity and entertainment.

I know that the opaline gourami is very pretty but I agree that it will grow too large for the tank that you have set up. As they get older they also get way more aggressive and that can spell trouble for the other tankmates. I would consider trading it in for another gourami in the dwarf variety. I think a school of cories would be great in your tank. If you want a pleco for algae control, I would go with a bristlenose pleco. They usually max out in the 4-5 inch range and are very peaceful little guys. They are constantly busy cleaning the tank and ridding it of algae. I think you would be very pleased with him.

Get more barbs...3 is not a sufficient school. Add atleast 3 more, preferably 5 more. Also get more USD cats, as they like company...maybe 3 more of them.

Then you'll have room for some cories. Get atleast 6 of 1 species. :)

i would have this in a 29
5-6 barbs
2 rams(bolivian are better because they are much hardier and not little babies like the blues) or keyhole cichlids
take away both gouramis, especially the opaline
4 USD catfish
6 cories
4 ottos or 1 bushynosed/pitbull/rubberlip pleco
IMO thatd be a very pleasing tank
