Root Growing Halfway Up Anacharis

what is with this random root growing halfway up the stalk of this anacharis plant?

do you think if i were to cut the plant right under the root and stick it in the gravel so the root was under the gravel it would spread out?

that is a signal that the plant is looking for nutrients. your pea gravel substrate is not going to supply much in the order of nutrients. so the plant is looking to the water column for food. if you bury the root, the plant will likely do the same thing again.

Lol, yeah, anacharis do that. It's just getting nutrients out of the water column. Not a problem.

you can cut the root off if you want ^^
it will grow back ofc
