Hello-
just wondering if anyone can recommend some compatible species for rosy barbs. I have 6 of the long-finned variety in a 40g and have checked around the internet for info on this, but really I'm curious if anyone has good reports on what does or doesn't work with these guys. Would like to stay away from additional barbs, I think. Looking at maybe... larger tetra species (buenos aires or congo, etc.), honey gourami.. dunno, possibly angel-fish... well, any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks in advance :)

I have one rosey barb in a 125g tank with blood parrots, rope fish, severums, and dragon fish and it does fine. Rosey barbs are pretty aggressive for a small fish. I would think that as long as the other fish is not big enough to shallow the rosey barb then they will do fine with most semi-aggressive fish. :dance

Update:

well, my 8 gallon was seeming a little over-stocked (having trouble keeping conditions stable) so I moved a couple of my Endler's into the 40 g tank with rosy barbs, more or less as the test subjects. Well, they gave me quite the fright, those rosy barbs-- they immediately went after the new fish, who successfully dodged the attacks AND my attempts to net them out!! But after several minutes of being "jerks" to the new-comers, the barbs just "chilled" and finally everyone is being a peaceful tank-mate. I was very afraid for the male Endler, but he survived the night and is now just one of the crowd. :D

Next addition: Angelfish!!!
