I recently bought 4 rosy barbs (yellow variety?) on impulse. :duh: I really like their yelllow coloration. there are now less an inch (juveniles)

now, my question is:

Will they get along with my betta when it reaches adulthood?? they're not like tiger barbs, are they???

they also seem to be eating the hair algae off my plants. I'm having an algae bloom. seems like a solution to my algae problem. :D hehehe

The yelow coloration simply menas you bought females. Be careful with them and the betta as they are lively fish and may startle him. They also like to dig, so I hope your substrate is fish friendly...

As for getting along with the betta... it's impossible to tell. Since you have females the chages are good, however the chance remains that a mean, rotten, bully of a barb may have gotten into your tank. Keep an eye on your betta's fins for signs of nipping.

the yellow is really yellow. the vendor that's selling had an aquarium full of them about 200??. Isn't there such a bred of yellow rosy barbs? or is the vendor putting one on me? :p

I am attaching the photos. It's really diff kind of yellow from the usual rosy barbs. I suck at taking pictures but the yellow is a lot brighter in person than in photo.

the betta and the little buggers.

anyway, I'll keep an eye out for any fin nipping. the betta was harasssing the barbs when they were first introduced. but got tired of it, I think. :)

how big does a rosy barb gets?? ive only seen them about 2" here.. any chance it will grow bigger?

The long fin type get about three inches. You have females the males are a lot brighter and red. My long fin rosy barbs have killed two bettas I personnel would not mix the two fish.
