Hi,

I noticed that my rotkiel pair finally laid eggs yesterday, but they are in a 300 gallon comm tank with some clown loaches, lots of other severums and an arowana, Planning to remove the eggs and hatch in another tank?
Would this have any negative effect on the parents if i removed the eggs?
also any tips on raiisng the eggs separately?

This morning I noticed another male severum picking on the rotkiels egg while i was feeding them, the female did not drive of the intruder, when the male got back, he chased the other away, including the female, I think the female is also off limits now. Should i move the eggs?

thanks.

thanks. i have an acrylic divider, btw how about the female? should i separate her? since he also chases her away after the other male ate some of the eggs

i think i would leave her on the other side, an exs brother had kribs that bred and the male did exactly the same, chased everyone off, he partitioned to give him peace and give everyone else some tank space back female included on the outside

My green severums spawn in a 125 com. tank and when I took the eggs the female was pissed but they have spawned every 9-12 days since I got them in early dec.

once the fry were happily swimming he put the male on the other side and left the fry some safe space, as previosly the male had eaten the fry once hatched

I just leave my gold sevs to spawn. I'm not the least bit interested to raise the fry at all. When I removed the eggs before, the sevs were totally confused where the eggs went and the male began harassing his mate. I had to return the eggs and they stopped but they were unable to keep the loaches at bay.
