Royal Tetra no not the emperor tetra

I read that same article in FAMA and it says they are a little sensitive to water parameters and quality. They might do ok in harder water, but you'd need to ask whatever lfs you acquire them from what kind of water they're being kept in before coming to you. If the pH of the water they're in is significantly different than yours, you'll want to acclimate them to your conditions slowly and carefully. Also, they may not show as true of a purple-blue color if kept in harder water.

I actually do not see them as very delicate fish. They have been very easy to keep on my part although like they say, mileage varies.

I agree with Lupin. They weren't particularly delicate or sensitive when I had them. Maybe just for breeding?

nguyendetecting, I don't remember exactly but they weren't terribly expensive. $3-4 a piece I want to say. I had a good sized school, so they couldn't have been that much :) I was rather poor at the time.

i think most fish are hardier than is noted in aquarium magazines

the magazine stated that they were very easy to keep, and not too hard to breed. But I have yet to see them in stores and was wondering on AC members experience with them. I've gotten good info though, I'll get some if I see them.
