Rubber Lip Pleco

I have 2 of them, and they are neither active or shy. They can be pretty skittish if they are surprised, but usually one of mine is found sitting on top of his slate cave, and the other is usually hanging on the roof of another slate cave.

I keep wondering if I have a male / female, one of them is usually a darker gray than the other, with larger spots, but I have no idea how to sex them. I also notice that one of them does an amazing color change at water change time, he goes from being a dark gray to a sand type color, and slowly fades back to gray once he is comfortable again.

I've had 4 of these guys before. Good luck with them, All of mine died...not all at once, just one at a time over a 3 month period. I now have a clown pleco (which I love) and he's been doing great for almost a year now. Not sure what I was doing wrong. I bought them from PetSmart, maybe their stock was weak.

Probably was just weak stock, I bought my 2 from a local store about 6 months ago and they have been fine. I think they need a slightly lower temperature, and some water movement, but other than that are pretty easy to take care of.
