Rubberlip for a convict tank?

Will a rubberlip pleco work in a convict tank? I want something in there as a sort of algae control, but I don't want a fish that's going to get picked on to death by the convict.

I have a pretty small one in my 20g and my Angel goes after him a bit. I would go with a bushy nose before a rubberlip. The rubberlip has such a little tail that it always looks like a worm and the Angel goes after it.
