I have an undergravel filter in my 75g tank and use 2 402 powerheads. I also have an Aquaclear on the back. Without starting a debate over UGF, I am interested in switching the flow making the filters RUGF. I understand this will increase the filters capacity. Are there any risks in doing this in an established and cycled tank? My fish are growing and all though I currently have no problems, I worry about the increasing bioload.

The tank occupants are 5 Angels, 2 Pearl Gouramis, 3 Clown Loaches, 2 Siamese Algae Eaters, 1 Red Tailed Black Shark and a Bristlenose Pleco.

The tank has been setup since May, with approx. 1" of Gravel. I do 15% - 20% water changes weekly, using a gravel vacuum and syphoning water and waste from the gravel.

Most likely switching over at this point won't be a big problem, I would be prepared to do a few back to back water changes after the switch over in case there is some build-up under the plates. Here is one of RTR's article that covers the filters well, not necessarily the changeover but the info may help.
