I know thee may not be a rule because many will say because of surface area, etc. but what is a general stocking rule for shrimp? I am only interested in the smaller type of shrimp and not bamboo shrimp. I've got a five gallon going spare and I wondered how many.

Thanks,

General rule of thumb is 10 adults per gallon. Leave lots of room for population growth. I prefer to not have shrimp, especialy neocaridina, in a tank less than 10g because of how they multiply.

and o boy do they multiply!

OK thanks for your help. IO didnt realise you could have that many!

When they start to multiply I could give them to my lfs as they will readily accept them. Or move them to other tanks.

Thanks again!
