Anyone else have problems with the new runners on their runner plants not getting a grip in their substrate. My hydrocotyle grows quite a lot of new runners but they seem to end up floating up. I keep on pushing them into the substrate but my big old plec keeps on swimming past and uprooting it again! I have a sand substrate by the way!

The sand substrate is probably the problem... a couple years back in my old 15 gallon, I also had a sand substrate, and the runners my plants put out would always come loose. I just stuck the runners back into the sand, and put a small rock on top of it until the runner established a decent enough root system to anchor it down.

Looks like i'm just going to have to beat my pleco to a pulp!
Only jokin!
I'll just have to keep on weighing them down with rocks.
