Running Copper

I have usually used the copper product from Aquarium Systems.
I don't think it's chelated. Some of thse products are harder to measure/test for levels. Keep in mind, this need not be the end of the world... agree no substrate is best (it binds the copper) but if you cannot remove it before treatment, simply replace it later in portions.
The only thing I would clarify about the previous posts from others would be number 5. "replace all filter media, substrates, and sponges etc if you have any." IMO, you would want to REMOVE any chemical media during treatment, (not replace it) you can add a Polyfilter pad later to remove the copper but that would not be advisable, as I said before, you may want to maintain a certain level for new arrivals. With 70 fish, do not replace your bio filter media; even though the copper will put a dent in your bacteria it will not kill all... your system will rebound. Keep a watchful eye for Ammonia during treatment and several weeks after, water changes as needed.

Two for the inverts your buying they most likely are totally immune to anything that the fish might have. Flboy is correct removing would work much better than replaicing filter media etc. I still say if you have substrate in your tank and inverts it's a real bad combo after a cu treatment. I know poly pads work really well but, any invert with copper based blood will die pretty fast with just a trace of copper,"cu" in the tank. You can more or less compare copper with cyonide for us iron based critters.
hth and thanks for letting me put in the shamless plug for a hospital tank . I thought you had one but, some reader on down the line may not.

I am going to ask today if I can replace the substrate, but I can't remove it and put it back after treating, 'cause that's where all the big bugs are untill a fish or invert get close enough. Then they all jump on thier victim and immediately start chewing holes in them. It's so sad!
Thanks again for more info!!:)

IMO on a lage scale commercial operation it would probably be easier to run a berlin style set up. If you have c.c. or sand you'll never get the copper out of it. I feel really sorry for you Tina. It's to bad that more hobbiest don't run wholesalers.
Cheers
Chris
p.s. if you need more help p.m. me

Okay I am worried 'cause I can't replace the subtrate. I think I am going to try Clout first. I know it will dye everything blue, but I think in a long run it will be better for the tanks, but so you all think it will work? It is my favorite with freshwater and I know that it is not just a dye...I think it is a form of fermaldihyde...lol...sp??? I got permission to use it, when before they said no, because customer's will know there is something wrong with our tanks.
Any info again would be apprieciated!!
