Running DIY Co2 Through a c-160?

Also, I heard that you could turn off the co2 at night, because the plants don't need co2 when the lights are off, can I do that with a canister filter somehow?

OK, What should I do then to have surface agitation, and what should I do if the co22 levels are too high?

Your canister should do enough surface aggitation. You don't want much at all really when running co2.
Some is probably good. As in, seeing the surface move, not rapids.
Just wait and see what you have after you start it up.
You'll have time to play with that while your cycling for a couple of weeks.

Once you get plants in their, I doubt you'll be worried about too high of co2.
But if it looks like a problem from sitting over night. You could run an airpump on a timer, to come on when the lights go out. And turn off a couple of hours before the lights come on.

Ok so if I see that there is high levels, just run an airpump when the light are off...got it. Just made my DIY system today....I'll get that working when I have enough plants.

P.S I can use flourish excel with co2 right?

I also bought (sort of by accident) a check valve that has this filter thing in it before the air leaves the valve, should I not use that because of the filter thing? Or will it not effect the co2?

Yeah It looks like this...........

that'll do. just place the check valve anywhere between the two ends of the hoses. preferably not in the tank.

turning offf your co2 at night? probably not necessary and mroe hassle than it is worht. diy doesnt make THAT much co2 to harm your fish. if you monitor your co2 levels in your tank for the first few days you will know what you need to do.

excel? if you dont have a good concentration of diy co2 it might help. but at that rate it might just be more worth it to do just the excel.

in summation. go add up the cost of sugar, yeast, excel andother things you need for your diy setup and see when the long run costs match the price of a pressurized setup. and then see wether or not it is worth doing diy or splurging for the pressurized setup

Yeah I know, I only want to just start with DIY see how it does, and if i feel like I need more co2, I'll start to save...and keep on saving.hahaha
OK, I'll use that check valve.

I'm also going to get a red sea co2 monitor, once I start co2...
