Why do people rush the holiday season here? I spent all day yesterday in my parents attic to pull down their x-mas stuff and it was alot of stuff. And now the SO has me in our attic today to pull all her stuff down. Not only was there nobody to help at my my parents, but the SO took off this morning to go to the mall. This is getting crazy.

To top it off, she wants me to put up the outside lights next Friday (day after Thanksgiving) and then do my parents on Saturday.

Does anyone else have to do this for their SO or family? Or is just me being crazy about I'm supposed to be on vacation this week?

I almost puked when I walked into CVS on November 5th and they were putting up Christmas stuff!!!! Santa was at the mall 3 weeks ago!!! WTF!?

I went to my girlfriend's house last Tuesday and her husband was putting the lights on the outside of the house.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the holiday season, but I want to enjoy Thanksgiving with a fall feeling still in the air, before I break out my Christmas decorations and put snow in the season....

that sounds like work, I'd be saying bah humbug... but then I have to say part of that reaction is to the earlyer and earlyer the cristmas decorations are going up each year.

the only good reason for christmas is the thought about Christs birth and the nativity idea that goes along with it... but since He was 33 and a half when he died it would make sence that his birthday is 6 months from the time passover occurs, which would put it in the middle of october not december 25 like 'tradition' says it is.

November 5?? Are you kidding Tara?? They were putting things out on one side of the aisle with Halloween stuff in September while putting Christmas stuff on the opposite side over here in Jersey in Walgreens.... talk about suping up the holidays!

(I still love to decorate though :D)

No kidding dd!! They had clearance bins of halloween candy at the end of the aisle (which, at 75% off was way too good of a deal to pass up, hence my large butt) and had the shelf stocking diagrams taped up to the shelves and boxes of holiday stuff out in the aisles!

I love decorating too, we take an entire day to do it, and then take another entire day the next weekend getting our tree and decorating it... but it must not be done before my birthday (12/3)!!!

See, this is why it pays to only really decorate around Halloween. Neither the Missus nor I are truly "holiday" people, so we do just fine with a wreath or two and maybe a stocking over the hearth.

Starting your lighting on Nov. 1st is just crazy. Some people are SO desperate for good times that they'll jump the gun consistently. This year it's just plain out of control... like every thing else in this country.

It's always been a tradition as I grew up to put the tree and decorations up the weekend of Thanksgiving. Since my dad was home, it was a family event. I keep that tradition with my family now.

We have a radio station that's been playing Christmas music since Halloween ended!

My family has maintained a tradition of no decorations until the first Sunday in Advent (which is usually the first week of December) and stays up until Ukrainian New Years (even though we aren't Ukrainian, lol). We have holidays scheduled down to a T hehe.

I won't be getting too into decorating and Christmas-ey stuff since I'm spending $700 on airfare to go home. Anyway, seeing Christmas lights on and stores hauking Christmas stuff since Halloween is just wrong, at least wait until after American Thanksgiving, Imo.
