Russia tortoises?

Well, yeah, all turtles/tortoises need a varied diet (I know tortoises more so).

Heh, I found a Canadian wholesaler a couple days ago, I would have jumped at his 45$ Russians and 5$ stink pots, but you need a minimum order of 1k =^/

My nephew has one - it clunks around in its aquarium, eats Romain lettuce, shopped veggies & turtle sticks. It's pretty active, they let it run around on the lawn when it's warm out. It doesn't like being handled much, but my nephew is on the young side, so that's probably to be expected. Maybe it will calm down as they both get a bit older...

I like it, think it's a decent pet but it is good at fouling its water and it should be in a larger tank - I'd suggest a 40g breeder as a minimum, wading pools a more likely housing option.

Don't forget the IR heater.

Another thing to know: Tortoises shouldn't be kept in glass aquariums. They get stressed because they can see out, but can't get out. So they'll just constantly bang against the glass trying to escape. They should be kept in large rubbermaid tubs or in homemade "tortoise tables".

I was just thinking about the housing... Hmm will have to look up these tables of turtles :duh:

Edit: Leetness.

Well you can also use a large rubbermaid tub like I said for the mean time. I know you can get a 50 gallon one from Home Depot for like $10 bucks. A custom made tortoise table is definitely something to look into as well.

Yes, I love the idea of a tortoise table. I've daydreamed of doing that kind of thing with different critters before. Anyone use wooden bedframes for those?
