So a while back 2 of my jewels had thier first attemt at mating. The first day went well, but something dark was looming on the horizon. Day two we woke up to find both parrents almost finished eating thier eggs (who doesn't like scrambled eggs for b-fast?) While they were doin thier thing, our other male jewel was basically stuck in a corner of the tank, fearing death if he moved. now the 2 males are like bo and luke duke, unseperable, causing havoc. Meanwhile, the female has been quite unactive, staying under the lip of the penguin (she used to stay in the plants near the bottom). Her colors have....
changed? She used to be the most colorful fish in the tank, orange and red with bright green irredescence. now she is more green and white and the irredescence is fadded to almost silver. could this be fishie depression? or is this a standard breeding cycle (mabey in a few weeks she will get herself pretty again to snag a date?)
