i walked downstairs today to feed the fish in my 42G and noticed that my chinese algae eater was not moving. so i kinda poked at him with the net and sure enough, he is now in the great fish tank up above. so i am off to replace him this afternoon... in this tank i also have a stripped raphael cat. any sugestions on what to replace him with.

Yeah, I'd skip replacing the CAE....they get nasty when they get to adult size.

I think he wants to replace him/her with a different species. But ya, your tank is pretty stocked now.

Not to mention that rainbows are schooling fish and really should not be kept as singles. Instead of making the 29 gallon into a saltwater, why don't you rearrange your 42, move out some gouramis, and get four more australian rainbows. Others will let you know if a 42 is big enough to have a school of them.
Take care,
Mary.

I was thinking of doing that, but right at the moment I am looking into buying a house, and when i do i talked the wife into letting me get another tank, somewhere in the area of 75-125, depending on how the house is lined up. once i do that, everything in the 42 will be moved out and into the bigger tank. this should be about another few months.
