I was looking to add a couple of algae eaters to my 80 gallon and I was thinking of maybe going a different route other than Otos as I have some in my 20 gallon.
At a fish store today I was talking to an assistant manager today and was basically testing him on his knowledge and stuff. He failed most of the stuff.
I saw a ghost knife and asked him how big they got. He said about a foot and that they'd be Ok in a 33 gallon because they're dorment.
I asked what kind of co2 he uses and he uses some fizz tab 0.o I was trying to see if he knew where I can get pressured co2 kits and found that gem. Through relating I got into the whole DIY yeast stuff and he thought it adds ammonia to the water. I had a good chuckle over that one inwardly.
Things got interesting when I maneuvered the conversation to algae eaters. We started talking about SAE's and Flying Fox and whatnot. Discussing a little bit I found a gem. He starts giving me the scientific name to the flying fox. I'm not good with latin names but when I got home and checked it out he's mistaken Flying Fox for SAE's... "The one with the clear dorsal fin? Those are flying fox." 0.o
So basically he's selling true SAE's with a Flying Fox pricetag. *chortle*
Anywho,
I was wondering about SAE's and compatibility with rainbows. If I somehow manage to spawn my 'bows in the 80 tank would a SAE eat the eggs/fry? I know that Rainbows don't eat their own fry but thats about all I know.
Wrong forum =( i get lost sometimes.
